HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE......Arrival Safe and Sound in Bay St. Louis 3/23/2008

We packed up and left Biloxi about 10:15 this morning and drove down the Ocean Highway into Bay St. Louis and our next stop at the Hollywood Casino RV Park located whereelse but the Hollywood Casino. Great park as it's almost brand new since Katrina blew through with concrete pads and nice large sites. The drive down was the same old same old as all we saw was destruction along the Ocean Highway. Nothing left that you could see except an occasional new restaurant, condo or gas station, lots of work still to be done down here. We were all set up by noon and went out to take a drive around the town. Guess what we saw more destruction and it is getting worse. All the roads on the beach and the roads leading into the beach are gone, they are driving on dirt or sand now. No homes left at all along the ocean, there are a few shops and small businesses left in the downtown area but that's about all. The bridge from Pass Christian to Bay St. Louis over the bay itself is brand new so obviously the old one was wiped out by Katrina. We drove along the Ocean Road north along the bay front and there is not a home left from one end to the other and all you see is concrete slabs and stilts where once someones home stood. Well other than that that is about all we did today, I came back and showered and I fed the dogs and we are leaving now to go over to the casino to see what they have to eat. They have a buffet, a steak & seafood restaurant and a sandwich shop so we can take our pick. The lunch buffet they have we hear is great as it's $4.99 per person and on Wednesday it's $2.49 so we plan on taking that in a day or two. Well we went over to the casino and decided on the buffet which we are both very glad we did. When we got there the menu posted outside didn't really turn either of us on so we went down to the sandwich bar and the food there didn't really turn us on either so we opted to go back up to the buffet. Once we got seated and looked at what they had we are really glad we did decide to eat here. It was a wonderful Easter dinner. They had salad and all kinds of fixings to go with it, fried catfish, fried shrimp, tilapia in a cream sauce, crab legs w/melted butter, hot boiled shrimp, cold shrimp, avacado oysters, pizza, duck breast in gravy, tuna steaks, gumbo, chicken primivera, turkey breat, seafood in cream sauce, ribs, mashed potatoes, corn, cornbread stuffing, steamed mussels, steamed clams, dungeness crabs, egg rolls, and of course desserts such as sundaes, pies (apple, blueberry, peach, pecan, custard), cakes, cheesecakes and cookies. Quite a feast it was and very good food. We walked around the casino after and Mom found the penny machines for future reference, then we took the shuttle back to the RV, watched tv until it was bed time. Well time to say good night and until tomorrow and we love you all.
