In Apalachin at Scott & Cheryl's for a Visit 5/22-25/2009

We packed up early Friday morning and got propane and off we went for the 65 mile drive to Apalchin and our visit with Scott and Cheryl. We got there about 11:30 and set up as far as we are going to set up. Rachel was leaving for a volleyball tournament at Penn State so we said goodbye to her. I took the car to the car wash and finally got it clen as it was a disgrace as it was so so dirty. I came back and did the inside, the windows and took the tar off. That was about it for the day for me as I was pooped. Anna got home about 3:45 and told Grandma she had all weekend planned for her with Kaitlyn and her. Scott and Cheryl got home fairly early as it was the holiday weekend so he didn't have any practice and Cheryl took a few hours vacation. We had pizza and wings for dinner and turned in early, at least I did as Mom was sleeping in Anna's room.
Saturday I started on the coach taking the bugs and road grime off the front end and the front windows. Mom kept busy inside helping Cheryl and Scott was opening the pool. Mom took Anna and Kaitlyn out for an ice cream lunch, shopping and to play miniature golf and they had a great time as usual as w. Scott and I watched the Syracuse-Duke lax game which was a semi-final game. We took Cheryl, Scott, Anna and Kaitlyn out to Fridays for dinner as Cory was at his grandmothers house in PA and of course Rachel was at Penn State. We had a great dinner and then we came back and watched TV for awhile and I turned in and Mom again slept in Anna's room.
Sunday I wasn't feeling to great as something I ate disagreed with me so we just hung around the house and didn't do much at all. Scott and the family went to Cheryl's grandmothers for their annual Memorial Day picnic. I watched the Indy 500 and the Yankees-Phillies game and Mom read and watched TV in the other room. We had dinner by ourselves and the kids got home about 7:30.
Monday Mom and I got up early and washed the coach from head to toe and I took all the black streaks off of it. We finally found something at one of the campgrounds that took them off completely along with some sap we had had on there since last year that nothing would touch. Scott and I watched the Syracuse-Cornell final lacrosse game which SU luckily pulled out in the last seconds and in OT.....darn it. Cheryl and Scott fixed a nice dinner of chicken, shrimp and macaroni salad along with a new recipe Cheryl tried of a raspberry jelly/brie wrapped in philo dough dip. We watched TV for awhile and I turned in as Mom was sleeping in the RV tonight as Anna was back to school on Tuesday.
Well that brings you all up to date and until next time we love you all and miss you all......sorry there isn't more to read guys. Love Mom & Daditnessed by the pictures they took

A Few Caches to Pass the Time Till Friday 5/21/2009

Mom and I decided to go out and do a few caches this morning just to pass the day away as we were leaving for Scott's on Friday. Our first cache was in a RT 15 rest area and then it was on to 3 cemetery caches. The first 2 were in Maple Cemetery in Addison, NY, a very very small town. We found those 2 quickly and as we headed out of town we saw another Amish carriage with a father and four small children in the back of it and also a canoe strapped on top, rather unusual we thought. Then it was on to Erwin, NY and a cache in the Townsend Cemetery where Benjamin Patterson is buried. He was the man whose house we saw in Corning and I wrote about in the blog a few days ago. This was a puzzle cache and we solved it quickly as we dodged all the black bugs. Then it was on back to the coach for our afternoon and evening routine which you must know by heart now. So until next time from Apalachin we love and miss you all.

Watkins Glen Caching 5/20/2009

This morning Mom and I drove to Watkins Glen to do a little caching and to look around the village as it has been ages since we have been there. The first stop was Nash Cemetery in Hornby, NY and to get to it was really an adventure. It took us down a dead end road and over several dirt roads until we finally got there. We really didn't think there were any roads like we traveled on left in NY. It was quite a old cemetery with grave makers dating back into the 1700's. Then it was on to another old cemetery named Savory in another small town. This cemetery was also quite old with graves dating back into the mid 1800's. Then we did 2 NRV caches on the way into Watkins Glen. Our first cache in the Glen was in the Greenwood Cemetery and was a puzzle cache. Supposedly the grave marker they used for this cache was haunted as they had said that on 3 different trips they tried to take pictures of the marker and when they got home it wasn't on their camera. We took 2 pictures and they came out fine. Once we found the cache, which by the way I had to hang out over a steep hill and brace myself on a tree in order to get the cache container, we did 3 more NRV caches. Then it was on to another small old cemetery that had no name for another quick cache. This cemetery was completely forgotten as it was again over grown and not taken care of. Then another NRV cache and then off to our last cache of the day at the Lakewood Vineyards. We had a "Grape" Cahe Geocoin that we took from a friend we met in KY that we said we would drop in a cache in a winery in NY so that is why we stopped at this spot to do this cache. Then it was back to the coach for our usual afternoon and evening routine. Well that's about it until next time so we will close and we love and miss you all. Mom & Dad
