We left Gettysburg about 10:30 to drive to Kinzers, PA in the heart of Amish country for our stay at Roamer's Retreat Campgrounds. It was a pleasant drive through the countryside of PA without any delays or snags. We got here about 12:30 and set up, had lunch then took a drive to the store to pick up a few things we needed. We also stopped at a little bakery recommended by the campgrounds. It was run by an Amish family who does all the baking in there own kitchen. We got a cherry pie and chocolate chip cookies for only $6.00....darn cheap and they both were delicious. We have ordered 2 more pies and some more cookies for Thursday as they only bake on Thurs, Fri and Sat. We drove back to the RV and it was almost dinner time so we ate and called it a night. We were sitting watching TV about 7:30 and we had a knock on the door and we opened it and it was a young Amish girl selling fresh made bread. We bought a loaf which was only $1.50 and her Mom said that she does most of the baking. We looked out the window of the RV after she left and she was in a small wagon with her Mom that was being pulled by a pony. It was amazing to see the Amish farms here with all the wash hung outside on a clothes line, the farmers plowing their fields with horses hitched to their plows and the kids riding bikes that must date back 75-100 years.
