Our Last Day of Caching Here in Albany, GA 2/4/2008
Well tomorrow we leave Albany and head to Ozark, AL so we went out caching to get a few of the remaining caches here in the area. We started at a small Confederate Memorial Park near our campgrounds, we did 3 that were located in small parks, one at Sam's Club, one at Home Depot, one on a walking trail near a hospital, another in a hole in a concrete light post (these seem popular here), one on an self dispensing ice machine, one near a alcohol rehab center, one on a golf course, one at a Bank of America and several in the woods.
The most interesting was a cache we did was in a small park in a very affluent neighborhood that was a children's playground. It was built on a mound of dirt that now covers abandoned nuclear missile site. The purpose of these Nike Nuclear Missiles were to protect B-52's which were located at Turner Air Force Base. The B-52's were also loaded with nuclear bombs and on 24 hour alert. This made Albany a prime target fro any Russian missile or bomber attack.
After we finished we were off back to the Rv for dinner and getting ready to head to Alabama tomorrow and the Ozark Travel Park for a week in Ozark, AL near Dothan and Enterprise. We love you guys and miss you all.
