First Day of Caching in Mitchell 7/31/2010

We loaded a bunch of caches into our GPS this morning and we were off with Muffy and Raggs. Our first cache was at the Visitor's Center out in front of the campgrounds, next 2 caches were in under light post skirts one at a shopping center and the other at a tecnical school, next was a cache in a small park under a children's slide, next was one in a hollow stump in a small wooded area, and the last 4 caches were at various spots along the Mitchell Bike Trail. When we were done caching we drove back to the coach and had lunch then went over to the local Discovery Center for a performance by a local Lakota Indian. He was putting on a demonstration of various Indian dances. It was supposed to be outside but because of the mosquitoes they had to hold it in the center. By the way I didn't mention anything as yet about the mosquitoes. They are AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. We have never seen anything like it in our lives. You walk through the grass and you are just covered in them. Some of them are 7 to 8 times larger than any regular size mosquito we have ever seen and you can berlieve me or not but they are HUGE. After the Indian dances we walked around the outside of the Discovery Center and looked at the church, old schoolhouse, railroad station, and other old farm equipment and buildings they had there. That is where most of the pictures came from today along with a few from the Visitor's Center and Dakota Wesleyen College as we didn't have any interesting or historical caches today and not really sure if we will. After we were done we drove back to the coach for the day. Well from Mitchell, SD that's about all for today so until tomorrow we love and miss you all. Mom & Dad Dori & Dick
