On the Road to South Sioux City, NE 8/8/2010

We started to pack up this until I called and found out the campground we wanted to stay in next wasn't open until noon and check-out time wasn't until 1:00 pm. So we just sat and twiddled our thumbs until about 10:00 then started to pack up and got on the road south on I-29 into Nebraska/Iowa. Scenic Park Campgrounds, a city owned park, was in NE and right across the river was Iowa. We got there about 12:30 and found out they did have sites available, as they don't take reservations. We got our site and got set up and boy was it hot as the temperature was 92 and the heat index was 110. After we got set up we had lunch and I took a shower which didn't do me much good. Then we headed for the laundromat as the campgrounds didn't have one. We got the clothes in a washer and left to stop at Wal Mart and pick up dinner. Back to the laundromat and I dropped Mom off to put the clothes in a dryer and headed back to the coach to take the groceries back. Then I went back and picked her up and we went back to the coach for the day. The campgrounds is nice with huge sites, good wi-fi, excellent cable, acceptable bathrooms as they are a little old but clean and the grounds are lovely. We had dinner and got ready for the storms coming. We had a tornado watch and a severe thunderstorm warning out and did we get it. The rain was unbelievable, wind 40-50 miles an hour and thunder and lightening for about 30 minutes. The branches off the trees were hitting the coach right and left and it was good they weren't awfully big. The storm was over in about an hour but we still could see lightening in the distance until 10 or 10:30. Well that's about it for today so until tomorrow we love and miss you all.
