Safe & Sound in Bacliff, TX 4/16/2010

Well here we arrived safe and sound in Bacliff, TX after an uneventful trip. Bacliff is on Galveston Bay halfway between Galveston and Houston. The trip was a good one and we didn't run into any snags. We got here about noon and were all set up by 12:30. We are staying at Kemah RV Park and it seems fairly nice, but not one of the better places we have stayed. It's really a crap shoot picking these campgrounds as you can look at pictures and read reviews and once in awhile you pick one that would not be on top of your list for a return visit. The bathrooms are clean, cable TV is great, wi-fi is nonexistant, the sites are kind of all crammed in together and there is a lot of families here who are people working on the oil wells, chemical plants and pipelines. We had lunch and loaded a few caches in the GPS and we were off to do some exploring. The 3 caches we did all were NRV caches although one of them was right on the shore of the bay which was a very nice view, although it was very humid and hazy and you couldn't see to far out into the bay itself. One of the other caches was a puzzle cache and took us into Kemah where they have a boardwalk and amusement park. There also seem to be a lot of quaint restaurants with names like Flying Dutchman, Clifton by the Sea, Palapas Bar, T-Bone Tom's Steak House, Skipper's, Brass Parrot, Spinnaker's, Crawdaddy's Bayou Grill and Salt Grass Steak House. There are also a lot of lovely huge homes along the shore overlooking the bay. After we got done caching we went back to the coach for the afternoon. We had Domino's Pizza for dinner and watched TV till we turned in. Well until tomorrow we love and miss you all. Mom & Dad Dori & Dick
