Heading Farther West to Duson,LA 4/2/2010

We packed up this morning and headed out of New Orleans toward Texas with kind of a tear in our eye as it was a nice stay and we had a lot of fun. We do have to say though that these roads in the city are some of the worse roads we have seen in a large metropolitan city. We got on I10 and headed west over the bayou and along the levees that are supposed to protect the city. We drove west through Baton Rouge and through some huge towns along I10 such as Grosse Tete, Ramah, Des Glaise, into the Atchafalaya Basin where we went through Atchafalaya and over a 18.5 mile bridge over the bayou and Lake Bigeux and then through Champagne, Breaux Bridge, Pont Des Mouton and around the outskirts of Lafayette and on into Duson where we are staying at the Frog City RV Park. We never would have believed how bad an interstate could be until we drove through Baton Rouge on I10. It was horrible and it's a wonder we have any tires left on the coach and car. It was bumpy and there were potholes galore and just in complete disrepair. We got there and got set up and loaded some caches into the GPS and headed for Lafayette. The campgrounds is very nice with large sites, cable TV, wi-fi and nice clean large bathrooms, each one an individual room. They are having a free Easter Sunday breakfast also here for all the campers who would like to come. As we drove into Lafayette we have been having some problem with the air conditioning in the car and we think this afternoon it came to a head. The weather is quite warm here and it keeps shutting off and blowing hot air and then after a little time it comes back on normally. Guess it's time to have it looked at. Well we drove in and found 6 caches none really worth writing about, then stopped at Wal Mart and picked up some groceries and stopped at Hooters and got some wings for dinner. We drove back had dinner, watched TV for awhile and went to bed. Well until tomorrow we love and miss you all. Mom & Dad Dori & Dick
