Deeper & Deeper into the Heart of Texas 4/23/2010

Well we were off bright and early this morning to Columbus, TX about 80 miles from where we were staying. The morning didn't get off to to great a start as it was raining and the traffic report was terrible as the traffic was backed up all around Houston because of accidents. It was unbelievable to watch the traffic updates in the mornings and see that it was going to take 45 minutes to 2 hours to drive into Houston in the mornings. Well we packed up and sucked it up and away we went. We tried to take the route around Houston and not right through the center of it like the GPS wanted us to do and it worked. The traffic wasn't bad at all but it cost us what we felt was a small fortune to drive "25" miles. We had to pay $13.50 to drive that 25 miles on what they called a "tollway". Sure glad we didn't have to drive it everyday or we would have to work 2 jobs. Well we got to Columbus without any other problems and thank goodness the rain quit. We are staying at the Columbus RV Park and it seems very nice. Large sites, cable is good, wi-fi is great and the bathrooms are neat and clean. we set up, had lunch and went out for a look around. Columbus looks like a great small town with lots of interesting things to see. We stopped at an "old fashioned" meat market where they cut your meat to order and picked up a couple of rib-eye steaks for dinner tomorrow. Tonight we got Subway, ate and watched TV for the rest of the evening. Well until tomorrow we love and miss you all. Mom & Dad Dori & Dick
