A Day at the Docks, Football & Golf 9/20/2008

Saturday was a beautiful day so we drove down to Hatteras Village as they had a festival called A Day at the Docks. It has been extremely windy here the last few days and we think this affected the festival as there really wasn't much going on. It was more of a local thing as they had a chowder cook off, seafood cooking demos, several displays by the charter boats and commercial fisherman, a net hanging contest, childrens games and music all day. When we got there there really wasn't much going on so we walked around for awhile and took in the exhibits and fishing boats and that was about it. We did visit the National Weather Bureau Station and saw several historic Civil War markers, and the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, which was closed today. We did do a virtual cache located at the public library which had to do with a world record Blue Marlin which was caught back in 1962 off the Hatteras shore. Then it was on back to the coach, after kind of a disappointing morning as we expected a little bit more than we saw. I watch college football and the Ryder Cup the rest of the afternoon and Mom read and took a long walk. We had dinner and watched TV for awhile and I turned in and Mom continued to watch TV. Well that's about it for Saturday so we will say until tomorrow we love you and miss you all. Mom & Dad
