A Wet Friday & A Picnic, A Great Party on Saturday & A Rainy Sunday 7/11-13/2008
Friday started out kind of gloomy and wet as we had showers on and off all morning. We just hung around until it was time to go to the Town of Camillus Annual Picnic at Gillie Lake put on by the head mucky mucks for all the employees and retirees. It was showery when we got there about noon but the rain let up and quit by 1:30 or so. The food was plentiful and was out of this world and it was nice to see old acquaintances and other retirees that we have known for years and years. As we said the food was GREAT and included in what they had was Alaskan king crab legs, raw and steamed clams, BBQ pork sandwiches, fruit salad, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, pierogi's, golumpki (pig's in a blanket), potato salad, huge (and we mean huge) steamed shrimp, cake, cookies, water and soda. We just wanted to mention the Alaskan king crab legs that were out of this world and you wouldn't have believed the size of them and the amount of meat you got out of one leg. We stayed about 4 hours eating, visiting and renewing old acquaintances with friends. After we got back to the coach of course we didn't eat dinner as we were still stuffed so we watched TV and read.
Saturday was Rachel's graduation party in Binghamton so we left about 8:30 for that as we told them we would help them get set up and decorate. We took Luke with us as Cody and Tim were at a soccer tournament in Rochester and didn't know if they would be able to make it. We got down there about 10:00 and started setting up tables and chairs, decorating the tents and doing anything else they might need us to do and we had a lot of help from Luke and Anna. Mom put a fruit salad together and made a tossed salad. We got done in pretty good time and so after we got done we showered and I watched Anna while she swam until Mom put on her suit and joined Anna in the pool. Anna told Mom the water was warm but when she went in she didn't think so and kind of froze. Three o'clock rolled around and the food came as they had a friend of theirs make all the main dishes and the guests started rolling in. Sean and Kim made it from New Jersey and Corinna, Chris, Alexis and Tyler came in from Utica as they had been there so the kids could run in the Boilermaker on Saturday morning. Chris and John Cashion also were there as Rachel wanted to invite them. A good time seemed to be had by all and the food was very good. We had tossed salad, cheese and crackers, three cheese dip, potato salad, rolls, meatballs, baked chicken, chicken spiedi's, baked ziti, sausage, peppers and onions, pizza, 7 different kinds of cookies, that were delicious, cake, water, soda, wine and beer. If you went away hungry it was your own fault. We sat and talked and ate till about 8:30 and we left and drove back to the coach and got back about 10:00 and went to bed.
Sunday started out cloudy and continued to deteriorate till about noon when it stared raining and it rained most of the afternoon and at times we had torrential downpours. We just hung around and Mom went out to Judy's and had lunch with her and got back about 4:00. I did some work on our column for the Grand Strand Geocachers newsletter and got it sent off to Rebecca who does it each month. I watch the Yankees lose again and thank goodness they are going to the All Star break as maybe a little rest will help their inconsistency for the second half. We had left overs from the graduation party for dinner and then I read for awhile and Mom watched TV. Well that's all the news that fit to print so until next time from the Adirondack Mountains we will see you and we love you all.
