Waiting Around for Race Day in the Adirondacks 7/18-19/2008
We would first like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Erica and hope she has a great day!!!!!
Friday was another day spent just waiting around in the campgrounds for Sunday's Ironman. Alexis spent last night here with us and Anna so we had almost a full house. Mom took them over swimming in the campground pool for awhile before we took them both back into Placid to Chris's motel. We went back to the RV and waited for Scott and his family to arrive as he was coming up to pick up Anna and stay 2 nights with us and then head to Watertown for a lax tournament on Sunday in Sacketts Harbor. They got here about 6:30 and he unpacked and set up a tent he had brought for him and Cheryl to sleep in. We had dinner and they took a ride into Placid to see Anna as she was staying at the motel for the night with Alexis.
Saturday we got up early as it poured during the night with lots of thunder and lightening and Cheryl said she thought she was going to die during the night in their tent. The tent did a good job as they said all it did was drip a little. As we were having breakfast they knocked on our door and said they wanted to see us in the office about the tent. Well I went to the office and they said we were only allowed one camping unit on a site so we had to take the tent down and pack it up. Another reason this place is a rip-off. So we took the tent down and got dressed and drove up the road a little to take a walk along a trail into the woods to see if we could find a cache hidden along the trail. We did find the cache deep in the woods along a stream and on the way in we saw a small lake with beaver dams built in it and a few blue heron nests in the trees. We did see 2 blue herons flying through the trees as we were walking in to the cache. After we got back to the cars Mom went with Scott into Chris's motel to spend the afternoon and I went back to the RV to spend time with Muffy and Raggs. I logged our cache and fed the dogs and took off to have supper with the family on the night before the race. We went to a pasta restaurant as Chris always has pasta the night before a race. After dinner we walked back to the car and came back to the RV with Scott and his family. Tomorrow is the big day so we went to bed early as we were leaving early in the AM. Well until tomorrow we love you all and miss you.
