Cleaning, Dinners and Heading for the Adirondacks 7/14-17/2008

Monday was spent cleaning windows, washing the awning over the slide-out seeing as it had gotten covered with locust tree sap and getting ready to head for the Adirondacks to watch Chris run in his first Ironman Triathlon. We went to dinner with Ceil and Mark at Francesa's in downtown Syracuse and had a great meal on the outside patio in back of the restaurant.
Tuesday was spent hanging some pictures, lubing the dolly wheels, putting things away and stocking up the pantry with "kid stuff" as Anna was going with us. We went out to dinner again with Ceil and Mark and this time we had Jeanette and George join us and we went to Lasca's in Auburn, NY and again had a great meal.
Wednesday we got up early and drove to Cortland to meet Scott and pick up Anna for our trip north. We got back to Camillus, packed up, hooked the dolly up, loaded the car, went and filled up the coach with gas....OUCH.... and we were off. We had a nice drive up Rt 81 to Rt 3 and across to the North Pole Campgrounds. Anna thought it was great she could sit and eat lunch as we traveled along. We checked in and got set up by 4:00 and found out that when Camping World fixed our TV so we could use the antenna in campgrounds that didn't have cable that they had unhooked the cable and now we couldn't get cable reception, boy what a bunch of dummies. They had put a satellite dish on the coach before we picked it up last year and they had evidently unhooked the roof antenna to hook the satellite cable to the TV so when we took it out there to have it fixed instead of unhooking the satellite and hooking the roof antenna into the TV they unhooked the cable wire to hook the roof antenna up so now we can't get cable. Oh well when Scott gets here we are going to see if we can fix it. After getting set up Corinna and Chris brought pizza out and we had dinner with them. It was great to see them again and we had fun sitting and talking while the kids went to the game room. There are a few things that we aren't happy about here as they seem to charge for everything. It cost Chris $8.00 to visit us on Wednesday and they told him that after that they were going to be charging $8.00 per person for the rest of the weekend. I told him that we would come and see him as I refuse to have them pay $32.00 to visit us. They also charge .25c for ping pong balls, $3.25 for miniature golf and $6.50 for a small bundle of wood for a campfire. As far as we are concerned this place is a rip off and they are price gouging just because of the Ironman this weekend.
Thursday we had breakfast and went and found a cache that we wanted to drop 2 Travel Bugs in to get them on their way as one wanted to be near the U.S.-Canadian border and the other one wanted to travel to forests. After finding the cache we drove around Wilmington seeing some of the old buildings and churches in the town. After leaving Wilmington we drove into Lake Placid to Chris's motel. On the way in we stopped and saw the Whiteface Mt. Ski area and took some pictures and also some of the scenic mountain sites. After we got to the motel Anna went swimming with Tyler and Alexis while Chris and I sat and watched the British Open and Mom and Corinna sat and talked. After they were done swimming we went to their room and had some snacks and then Mom and I left to come back to the dogs and the coach for the afternoon as Anna stayed with them and they all went bowling. They had a great time bowling and Tyler was the champ as he had 2 spares and bowled a 107. We met them at the Tail of the Pup outdoor restaurant for dinner and had a good time together and had a fairly good dinner, as it wasn't really anything to write home to Mom about. We drove back to the motel to pick up Alexis's clothes as she was staying with Anna in the coach tonight and then we drove back to the coach where I went to bed soon after getting back and Mom sat up and had a GREAT time with the girls playing games, joking and talking about the war in Iraq (go figure that one out). Chris is all set for the big day Sunday as he went for a short ride on the bike on Wednesday and a short run on Thursday. It certainly is mind boggling that he is going to do the 2.2 mile swim, the 112 mile bike ride and the 26.3 mile run all in one day. We wish him well and please be careful. Well time to say good night and until tomorrow same time same station that's all the news that fit to print and we love you all.
