More Pictures from Lake Placid

These are some more of the pictures we took while we were in Lake Placid for the Triathlon. We took them on Tuesday the day before we left while we were out caching and as you can see it was actually a sunny warm day.

Picture List:1,2,3-Whiteface Mt ski area with the clouds hanging low on the top of the mountain, 4,5,6,7-Olympic Bobsled training area....In the picture you can see a small shed where they store a regulation size 2 man bobsled. Outside the shed are a set of rails on which the bobsled sits and they use it to practice the push off and the jump into the sled as it goes down the bobsled run... the sled goes down the track on the rails and up an incline which stops the sled which then goes back down the incline and back up to the start of the push off area. When we were there we watched 2 of the U.S. bob sledders practicing as you can see in the pictures., 8-Olympic ski jumps, 9,10,11,12-Lake Placid train station, 13-Two historic markers commemorating the 15th anniversary of conservation in NY. On May 15, 1885 Gov David Hill signed the law establishing the forest preserve. The surrounding mountains, streams and woodlands have been acquired for the free use of all the people of the state and are maintained as wild forest land for the enjoyment of future generations.
