Out of the Hills and Back onto the Plains to Fort Worth 5/14/2010

Well we packed up quickly this morning and beat feet out of Austin just as they were issuing severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings for the area west of Austin and it was headed our way. We were able to beat the rain and it sure was black behind us as we traveled up I35. The trip was a fairly long one, at least farther than we like to travel, of 175 miles to Burleson, TX. The trip went well except for the lack of rest stops along the way. Must be Texans only have to potty once a day, ohhhhhhhh I forgot the make everything bigger in Texas. As we traveled north the hills gave way to flat farm country again and fields and fields of corn. As we neared the campgrounds the skies got blacker and blacker and we could see the lightening in the distance. By the way 1 mile from our exit to the campgrounds we found a rest stop and we did hit it, but quickly. We got to the campgrounds, Mockingbird Hills RV Resort, checked in and hustled to our site. Just as I was hooking up the cable TV the skies opened up and the wind started to blow like crazy. We really had a torrential downpour for about an hour and then it let up somewhat. After we got settled and the rain let up we took a drive to Camping World as we had to get a few things for the toilet. After we got back it was time to eat and watch TV for the evening. The campgrounds is very nice with fairly wide and long pull thru sites. The batrooms are large and very clean, wi-fi works good and the cable is ok, although we can only get one of the major stations which is ABC.
