Finally Arrived in NC & Some Caching 3/7/2008

We got up early Saturday morning and were off for NC and Longleaf Pines Oasis CG's. We got here about 12:30, the campgrounds was out in the middle of God's country with nothing around at all except trees. It was a new campgrounds we found out, only a year and a half old. We registered and asked the owner, who was a retired professor from Auburn U, where the restrooms and showers were and he said they had none. Well now that didn't set to well with us seeing as our camping book and there web site said they had restrooms and hot showers. We found out that the land had been in the owner's family since the early 1800's and when he retired he decided to build a campground, with no showers I might add. Well isn't this nice another problem however small it may be we can shower in the coach but me and a 2 X 2 shower don't get along to well. We got set up and decided to go do some caching so we loaded 8 caches in the GPS and off we went. Well the caching started out like the last few days had been................LOUSY. We couldn't find the first 5 caches and for whatever reason I think we kind of expected it. Must be that dark cloud hanging over our heads. Well anyways the first cache we did find was at a firehouse and was a nano under an old iron bell, second cache was in the brick entrance to an old cemetery and the last cache was a multi cache located in a small family cemetery, Peele Family Cemetery. There was a very impressive stone marker at the entrance to the cemetery denoting the Peele family history in America. We found the cache quickly and then were off to the coach and supper and an early nighty-night. Well that's about all for now from NC so until next time we love you and miss you all. Mom & Dad
