Caching on The Isle of Good Hope, Skidaway Island, Thunderbolt & Whitemarsh Island

Left again this morning about 9:15 for another day of caching in the Savannah area. First cache was one at a Wendy's, next was one in a baseball park, Publix Grocery Store was next, then Walgreen's, then on for a walk in the woods at a wooded preserve. Then it was on to Thunderbolt and a multi cache that had to do with 2 historical markers. On to the Isle of Good Hope and another multi cache that brought us to the Isle of Good Hope Methodist where we saw an old bell that had been in the church when it burned in 1984 and cracked. The original bell had been removed from the belfry and melted into cannon balls by General William T. Sherman's troops in the occupation of Savannah during the war between the states. We also saw a Confederate Cemetery which contained 33 Confederate burial. After figuring out the coords and finding the cache we looked at a small church called the Chapel of our Lady of Good Hope which was established by the Benedictine Fathers in 1874. With this Chapel was built the first Benedictine Monastery in the South.
As we headed off Skidaway Island we had a virtual cache to do where we had to find a name and date of a famous person who lived there. It turned out to be Clarence Thomas in 1991.
Then on to a cache behind WalMart where we walked behind a 10' high fence surrounding the parking lot and what a mess it was. We have never seen such garbage in all our lives. It would take 2 weeks to clean up the trash that people had thrown there. Toys, magazines, garbage, books, car part, beer bottles (thousands), empty aerosol paint cans (probably were sniffing it) and so much other junk it was amazing.
Next cache was at an old cemetery where there were many old historic graves, then on to a cache placed between Home Depot & Target and the last for the day was again at another WalMart. We drove back to the RV and I took a shower and showed Mom how to write up logs, then we ate and are now watching tv. We hope everybody is well and we love you all.
