SNOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW & Caching 1/20-22/2009

Snowwwwwwwwwwww in Myrtle Beach not a chance.......well take a look at the pictures and now maybe you will believe us. See our coach all covered in snow and our porch and the roads. Tuesday they said it was going to snow and for once they were right. It started about 9:30 am and snowed for about an hour and a half. It was worse here in Cherry Grove for some reason as we had to go to Wally World and they didn't have that much there at all and it's less than a mile away. I drove home to get my camera and this is what we found and by the time we got back down to the Wally World area it had stopped and it had mostly melted and by the time we got back to the house the same was true. Well that took care of Tuesday as it was windy and cold for the rest of the day so we stayed in and kept warm.
Wednesday Mom had PT and after she came home we decided to go out and do some caching as there was 3 new caches that had been put out less than 3 miles from the house. The weather was sunny but kind of windy and cool so we bundled up and off we went. These 3 caches were again off Watertower Rd the area that we had cached in a few days ago. The first one was just a few hundred feet into the woods off the road so we got that one easily. The next 2 were located down the road from the first one where the kids had a motocross track in the sand near a lake. It was about a mile and a half walk back in and out again so it was a nice walk on a sunny day. We found both caches easily and walked back out without seeing any sign of critters. It was a rather tough walk as the sand was very soft and rutted from the 4 wheelers and bikes that had been running around the track. After those caches we drove home had lunch and watched TV the rest of the day. Oh also I took a short nap......it was a long walk.
Thursday we went to Oak Island caching with Liz and Bob. It was a lovely sunny day and it was going to be about 50 so off we went about 9:15. A husband and wife from Wilmington had put out a huge series of new caches that were what they called anti-micro caches and unfortunately they were all the same Altoid containers located in light posts under the skirt. The caches were really of no redeeming value and all it did was give you a smiley. We had arranged with 2 cachers from the island to meet and have lunch so we met them at a BBQ place on the island. It was Jen Allen (Grin N Bear It), her Mom (sailingbev) and her young 2 year old daughter, Baby Bear. We had met Jen last year while we were caching and found out her Mom is from Endicott, NY close to where our son Scott lives. She spends part of the winter in AZ and the other on Oak Island watching her sisters house on the island while her sister is in FL. They are so so nice and we had a great lunch. Baby Bear, Jillian, is adorable and so so sweet and outgoing. We had such a good time as Mom took to Jillian immediately and vice versa. We hope to have them come to MB before we leave and go caching with them all. After lunch we were off for some more caches. We found one on a guardrail that was a fake bolt on the back of it, one at a community center in a tree, one on a lookout tower on a nature trail, one way out the end of the island under a boardwalk and the last cache was at a deserted drive-in restaurant. Mom and I had our 2100th cache find and Liz and Bob had their 900th so it was a very productive day. Then it was back to the house and Mom logged our caches and I took Muffy & Raggs for a walk.
Well that's about all for now so we will say until next time we love and miss you all.
