CONGRATULATIONS RACHEL.....Our Visit to Scott's 6/26-28/2008

First we would like to congratulate Rachel for her graduation from Vestal High School and her impending attendance in college.
We left Thursday morning for Scott's house and a visit with them and to go to Rachel's graduation ceremony. We got there about noon, took Anna to McDonald's for lunch, came back and just hung around the house as Mom watched Anna and Kaitlin as they went swimming in the pool. Thursday night was Rachel's prom night so we got to see her in her prom gown and we must say she was quite a lovely young lady. They took a party bus to Ithaca to The Boathouse Restaurant for dinner, then went to the prom at a hotel in Owego, NY and then they had an all-nighter at the high school. She got to her friend Christine's house about 6:00 am on Friday morning and slept till about 4:00 pm Friday afternoon. After she had left for the prom and Cheryl and Scott went for pictures we had pizza and wings for dinner. Mom spent the night sleeping with Anna and Kaitlin in Anna's bedroom and needless to say didn't get much sleep as they watched a movie first and then supposedly they all went to sleep but I guess the girls were up and down and Anna was coughing all night so as I said Mom didn't sleep much and was kind of tired the next morning.
Friday I went caching while Mom stayed home and spent some time with Anna. I found 3 caches one nano on a sign post one near Scott's house in the woods and another in the woods along the river. I spent 2 1/2 hours and only found 3 caches as I did drive to several others so I guess I spent more time driving to cache locations than looking for them. I can't figure out what some people are thinking when they place caches and post the difficulty as a 1 or 1 1/2 and you have to climb a steep hill or walk over a bed of very unstable rocks, things I don't feel safe in doing at my age, and the difficulty should be posted as a 2 1/2 or a 3. Must be they are thinking it is easy for them so it should be easy for everybody not taking into consideration that some people who are older or not as agile as they are will be looking for their caches. I came home about noon very frustrated and Mom took Anna and Kaitlin to the movies to see Walleee. I hung around and showered and logged my 3 whole caches. Friday night we went to Scott's families favorite restaurant Tony's for Italian food. After dinner we drove back and watched TV for awhile and Mom slept downstairs that night as she needed her sleep.
Saturday we had the graduation ceremony so it was everybody hustling around showering and getting dressed. The ceremony started at 1:00 pm and we got there about 12:30 with Anna as Scott and Cheryl had left about 11:30 as Rachel needed to be there at noon. They had saved us great seats in the third row right where she would be getting her diploma. The ceremony only lasted an hour and a half and we were on our way home. It turned out great as we got some good pictures of her and there was lots of beach balls and different blow up items being thrown around at every opportunity as you can see by the pictures. After the ceremony we went back to Scott's. Rachel came back for about an hour, as they had asked her to so they could give here her gifts. She got a Tom Tom GPS unit for her car, which she was thrilled with, as we hear she gets lost going around the corner. as they had a meat tray for sandwiches, which by the way we had the best sandwich rolls we have ever had, pizza and salads for us and the family and Rachel's Mom and stepfather. Everything was very good and there was lots left over for sandwiches the next day. We watched TV and again Mom slept with Anna and Kaitlin in Anna's room as they conned her into it by saying "well it's the last night your going to be here so please Grandma" and of course she fell for it.
All in all it was a nice visit and we enjoyed seeing Rachel graduate and we had a great visit with the family. Well time to say so long until next time and we love you all.
