I Know, I Know Give Me Hell 10/27-11/30/2009

I know everybody can give me hell for not posting on the blog but there just hasn't been much going on down here in Myrtle Beach. We have done a little caching but since we were here last spring there haven't been to many new caches put out so we have been waiting till Liz and Bob get here, which they are now, until we started doing the new ones so we can go together. I think since we have gotten here we have done 20 some odd caches and most of them have been caches around Oak Island, Holden Beach and Ocean Isle.

We spent Thanksgiving by ourselves as the rest of our friends had family over. Mom cooked a GREAT meal which consisted of turkey, mashed potatoes, squash, her GREAT stuffing, pumpkin and chocolate pie. It was a nice day and we had a nice meal but of course it's always nice to be with family.

Last weekend we went to the NMB boat parade down on the Intracoastal Waterway. The parade was supposed to start at 5:00 in Little River and come down the waterway to Doc Hollidays. We got to the drawbridge about 4:30 and waited till 6:15 till the first boat got there. There were 26 boats and let me tell you it was cool standing there all that time.

We had a caching meeting at a bowling alley in Surfside Beach which was a good time, we didn't bowl though, but just sat and watched all the rest of the people do their thing.......lots and lots of gutter balls too. We also had a Flash Mob Event in Loris where all you do is go sign the log and leave but we stayed and had a hamburg with a few of the other cachers that were there. Mom, myself and Ed are hosting the Annual Christmas Party at Logan's again this year so that should be fun as we have some new things planned.

There has been some bad rains and some flooding along the swash down the street from us. We had 5" of rain in one day and then high winds and high tides which caused the flooding for 2 early mornings.

We have gone up to Oak Island twice to have lunch with our friends Bev, who is from Endicott, NY, her daughter Jen and Jen's daughter Jillian. Jillian is the sweetest little 3 year old girl who is so outgoing and cute when we are around. We had lunch at a local BBQ place the first time and then at Pizza Hut the second. It's always nice to see them and by the way Jen is expecting another little girl on Dec 11th.

Mom and I have gone to a couple of the typical festivals since we have been here. The first was Art in the Park down in MB which hosts many local artisans and craftsmen from around here. The second was the NMB Street Festival which consisted of local craft vendors, food vendors, an antique car show, and local dancers. It again was ok but not like the shows back in NY.

The coach is still in the repair shop as it is going on 6 weeks now since we took it in. The slide out is fixed but we had to take the microwave to get an estimate on how much it would cost to have it repaired before the insurance would give us an ok on what to do. Winnebago wanted 600.00 for a new microwave and 160.00 for new brackets to retrofit it in our coach as they don't use the microwave we have anymore. So we got an estimate of 130.00 from a local shop and now are waiting for them to get the part, which may be Christmas before they get it. Damn Southerners and being slow.

We have to take Muffy down to Mt Pleasant, near Charleston, to a vet surgeon on Thursday to have her ear looked at. We took them for their annual exam and shots and the vet found a growth in her one ear which is either a polyp or a tumor and then we have to decide what we are going to do about it.

Mom has been volunteering in the nursery at the hospital on Tuesdays and they have asked her to help in setting up a new security system for the hospital sometime in Dec. Things have been kind of slow as far as babies are concerned and it has her all bummed out.

Well I guess I have everybody all caught up on the last 5 weeks or so and I will try and be better as we get busier during the holidays. So until next time we love and miss you all. Mom & Dad Dori & Dick
