Golf, Birthday Party, On Our Way to Old Mystic, CT 8/1-4/2009

Saturday Mom and I did a couple of caches in the morning. They both were located in different small cemeteries in Colchester. One was called Flag Day a section of the cemetery where they bury all the remains of any of the American Flags that are burned in the area. The other was in a drain hole in the other cemetery. After we were done we went to Chris's and he and I and Tyler went to play golf again at the same par 3 course we played last week. Again we had a great time as Tyler shot 61, one stroke worse than last week, Chris shot the same as last week 36 and I shot 39, 2 strokes better than last week. After we were done we had dinner at Chris's as they had a early birthday dinner for me of chicken and ribs, which were great. After dinner we had a birthday fruit pizza as a cake that Mom had made.
Sunday we packed up and went to Chris's about 10:30 as we were picking up Alexis and Tyler to take them with us to the campgrounds in Old Mystic for a few days. We picked them up and drove to Seaport Campgrounds and got there about 2:00. We got all set up and the kids wanted to go swimming so we took them. They didn't seem to have any of the kid's activities that they were supposed to have which disappointed them very much. They swam and played in the game room for the rest of the afternoon and then we had dinner.
Monday they were supposed to have activities but again NONE. We had to find something for them to do so we took them to the USS Nautilus Museum as they were having a kid's activities day there. We toured the museum which was very nice although the kids didn't really like to read all the history. They did do a scavenger hunt through the museum as we looked and got a key chain for completing it, they also made a periscope from cardboard and we had a nice talk with one of the young submariners. All in all it was a fun morning and the kids seemed to like it. On the way back to the RV we stopped and picked up a birthday cake for me as today I am 69. We got back and still no kid's activities so they went swimming and played with some new friends they met, Grace, Mark and Junior. They seemed to have a good time with them and played in the pool with them, played pool again and on the playground. We had dinner and then all the kid's came over and sang happy birthday to me and they all had some cake.
Tuesday we had breakfast early as Corinna was coming to pick the kids up this afternoon so they went swimming with there friends again for a little while. About 11:00 all the friends left for home so we took them to Mystic Village so they could get a special treat before they went home. Alexis got a stuffed beaver and Tyler got a pound of assorted fudge. We didn't care as long as they were happy and enjoyed themselves. Like I said the lack of any kid's activities were a big disappointment and really irked us as they advertised something different going on every half hour for them and they had nothing at all. Corinna came to pick them up about 1:00 and Mom and I spent the rest of the afternoon in the pool as it has been very hot and humid.
Well that's about all for now so we will say until next time and we love you all.
