HAPPY MOTHERS DAY & A Lousy Rainy Drive to Staunton, VA and Walnut Hills Campground 5/11/2008

WE WANT TO WISH MELISSA, CORINNA, CHERYL AND KIM A HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!!

Well we tried to beat the rain this morning and get off to Staunton early but it didn't happen. I had looked at the Weather Channel radar earlier and it there wasn't much sign of rain so we decided to leave. All was fine until we started to load the car onto the dolly and it started to sprinkle. We didn't get to wet but once we got on the road it just poured cats and dogs. It teemed almost all the way here and the traffic was horrible. We never figured to run into so much traffic on Mother's Day and on a Sunday to boot. What amazed us was the truck traffic we ran into all the way here, as we guessed they are traveling 7 days a week now. We arrived here about noon as we did stop to put gas in the RV because we saw a station that had it for $3.57 a gallon which was a lot cheaper than the $3.79 we saw at another station. We did get all set up quickly as it did stop raining for a little while. We had lunch and went out for a short look around. Well we didn't see to much as we couldn't find any towns close and it stared to rain again so we hustled on back to the RV. We got back just as the clouds opened up and it has been thundering, lightening and pouring rain now for about 2 hours. Well we guess every day can't be nice and sunny, but we could hope.
Walnut Hills Campgrounds seems to be a good choice of places to stay. It is quite large with both RV, trailer, and tent sites. We are up on the top level on a small hill overlooking the entrance. The bathrooms are clean but the shower stalls are a little small, especially for me. They have small lake to fish in, a playground, cable TV and wi-fi. We are satisfied with the choice and would stay here again.
The Wohlfhart Haus Dinner Theater was very nice last night and we both enjoyed it very much. Dinner consisted of cheese & crackers, salad with ranch dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, roast beef, chicken cordon bleu, and pineapple upside down cake. Everything was good except the roast beef which was well done and kind of dry. Mom ordered a glass of wine and I had 2 Yuengling 20oz drafts and it was only $10.00, which amazed us both. Beauty and the Beast was excellent and was done very professionally. The singing and dancing were very good and after the play was over all the cast came out in the lobby and shook hands with everyone and thanked them for coming, which we felt was a nice touch. All in all it was a fun evening and Mom enjoyed it very much and was very surprised.
The rain seems to be letting up a little now and we hope tomorrow is nicer than today. We will see everybody tomorrow and we again want to wish Melissa, Corinna, Cheryl and Kim a Happy Mother's Day and we love you all and miss you guys.
