Lax Tournament, Caching, & On to Cross Lake 6/12-14/2009

Friday we took a trip to Wegman's to get a few groceries to stock up the fridge before we moved to Cross Lake Campgrounds. After we got back from the store we packed up and off we went. We got there about 12:30 and were all set up about 1:00. We hung around till about 5:30 and drove into Camillus to go to dinner with Ceil, Mark, Janette and George at Twin Trees 2. We had a nice time and the found was very good. Saturday we jumped in the car and drove to Cortland to watch Nikki and Rosie play lacrosse in a tournament. It was nice to ber able to see them play as we didn't get a chance to see them play in school. Rosie is a goalie and played very well with a lot of good saves and in fact they won the championship in their division. Nikki also did very well and we got a chance to see her score a couple of goals although they got beat in their second game by 2 goals. Her and Shelby really make a nice tandem on the lacrosse field and should be great by the time they are seniors. Sunday we went out and did a little caching in the Cato area. Two of the caches were in small country cemeteries and one of the other ones was off the Cato-Fair Haven bike trail which was about a 1/4 mile walk for us and the dogs and the last cache was in a small pet cemetery. After we got done caching we went back to the coach, cleaned up and went to Tim's for dinner. We had a lovely dinner of pork roast, garlic cheese mashed potatoes, salad and carrots and peas. Mom made fresh strawberry shortcake for dessert and everyone seemed to enjoy it. After dinner we drove back to the coach and called it a night. Well until next time we love you all. Mom & Dad

A Little Caching and Not Much Else 6/6-11/2009

Well not much going on here in Camillus for the past 5-6 days at all. We are having a great visit with Melissa, Tim and the kids and have done a little caching. We went to see Luke play baseball one night in a game they lost 3-2. Luke played very well and had one hit and a walk and made several plays in the field that were excellent. We also went to see Cody play soccer and they ended up losing 2-0 to a better team than they were. Cody looked really good and knew how to play his position and looked very fast. We only wish that we could see the girls play lacrosse but they are in between seasons now so we aren't sure if we will get to see them. We have had some good dinners here with the family and we cooked for them 2 nights. Our caching has been limited to a few caches locally as we have found a lot of the caches that had been placed close to Camillus. We found 2 out on the Erie Canal Towpath Trail, a couple of nice caches in downtown Syracuse, 3 in small local cemeteries and the rest are the NRV cache finds. We will be moving tomorrow to Cross Lake Park Campgrounds as we have to get hooked up to 30amp electric so we don't have to run the generator and use gas from the tank and so we don't run our house battery down, which we just had to have replaced. We took the coach in for service on Wednesday as we said in the last blog and they found the house battery was shot as it wouldn't hold a charge so they replaced it. Even though we are at a campgrounds we will be visiting the Faulkner's as much as we can and as much as they want to see us. We did take a ride out to see the construction on the Camillus Aqueduct along Thompson Rd in the town. They are completely restoring and preserving it and it should look great when they are done. At Tim's, Coach Service, On To Chris's, Back to Tim's 6/2-5/2009

We spent Tuesday at Tim's getting the coach ready to go in and be serviced and just relaxing. We drove down to Ithaca on Tuesday night to watch Scott's lacrosse team in the Section 4 finals. Unfortunately the got beat 11-4 and are finished for the year. Scott was quite disappointed as he thought they had a chance to beat them but they had to play a great game and it just wasn't to be. Wednesday we got up early and packed up the coach and dolly and drove over to Camper's World to have it serviced and have a few minor things repaired. The tow dolly also had to have the lights fixed on one side as they were non functional. Then we headed to Chris's house and a short visit and to watch Tyler play lacrosse and Alexis play softball. Wednesday night it was Tylers game we watched and he did quite good for only having a lacrosse stick in his hands for about 2 months. They did lose to one of the top teams but only by one goal. Thursday we hung around the house and drove out to the campgrounds where we are staying for 2 weeks to take a look and see what it looked like. Wasn't to bad, a little rustic but otherwise fine. Thursday night Alexis had her softball game which we went to watch. She did very good as we were quite impressed with the way she played. She played first base and made 5 putouts, pitched one inning and struck out 1 batter, played third base and centerfield and batted twice and got one hit. All in all she is doing a great job and we enjoyed watching her. After the game we came back to the house and had a birthday cake for Corinna. Friday morning we got up and packed up and headed back to Camper's World to pick up the coach. We got there about 1:15 and it wasn't ready yet but said it would be done in about 45 minutes, so I decided to wait. Well 3 hours later they had it done so I didn't get back to Tim's till about 5:15. We got set up, had pizza with the family and watched the West Genesee-F-M lacrosse game and called it a day. Well until next time we miss you all and love you. Mom & Dad

Caching and Not a Lot More & Then on to Tim's 5/26-6/1/2009

Tuesday Mom and I just hung around the house and didn't do an awful lot. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we went out and did a little caching. Wednesday we did 13 caches all of which were NRV caches and were along a road, or just off a road that ran from Apalachin down into PA. They were in a cemetary, 4 on bridges, a road sign, 2 in the woods under a mailbox at a bank, and on a guardrail. Thursday was another day of 6 NRV caches in and around Endicott, NY. They were located in a tree near a new restaurant, 3 on guardrails, one under a storm drain frame, one in a cemetery, one at a Veteran's memorial in a tree and the last was in the woods at a local park. That last cache was a bear as you had to climb a steep hill to find the cache and the ground was wet so it was very tough keeping your footing. Friday we finished a series of 6 caches that we had started last May when we were at Scott's. We had 3 left to do and then the final cache. They were all located in old cemeteries in small towns from Apalachin to Barton, NY. and you couldn't do the final cache until you had found the first 6 as each one had a number in it in order to locate the final. They all were quite interesting as most of the cemeteries were very old with lots of old grave sites. The cemeteries we visited today were Asbury Church Cemetery and the church was built in 1822-1823, There are Revolutionary and Civil War veterns in this cemetary. Smithboro Cemetery and State Line Cemetary. Several Revolutionary War veterns are buried here. One of them is Silas Wolcott (1755-1834). He was a bodyguard for George Washington in the winter at Valley Forge.
Friday night we went to Scott's semi-final lacrosse game at home against Corning West who they beat 12-6 and are now headed to the Section 4 finals next Tuesday against Ithaca at Ithaca. Saturday was a quiet day as I worked on the article for the June caching newsletter and Mom took Anna and Caitlyn to the movies and out to lunch. Scott worked on his lax game for next week all day. Sunday Anna had a birthday party to go to so Mom and Cheryl dropped her off and then went shopping. Scott had practice in the afternoon and I watched the Yankees-Indians game. Scott deep fried a turkey for dinner on Sunday which tasted very good, as they always do. Monday morning we packed up and were off to Tim's house and a visit with them. We got there got set up, ran a few errands and when we got back everybody was just getting home and it was really nice to see them all. Melissa and Tim haven't changed much, Rosie has grown like a weed and is now taller than Mom, Erica has lost weight and sure is skinny and Nikki looks about the same, has grown a little and still as cute as ever. We had dinner which was Melissa's great BBQ and then I helped her make cupcakes for a birthday party tomorrow at work and Mom went with Tim to Luke's baseball game. Well I guess your all caught up so we will close and we love you all. Mom & Dad
