Great Thanksgiving and Not Much El 11/28-29/2008

We did have a great Thanksgiving with Gina and Steve even though Mom wasn't her old self but we managed with there help. We had some problem with the regulator on the turkey fryer and it was lucky I had another one in the RV so we swapped it out and we were back to frying. Other than that things went great and we had a nice meal.
Friday we didn't to anything as Mom was still in a lot of pain so we called the doctor and he asked to see her at 2:30. We hung around till it was time to go and after her visit she felt a little better mentally as he talked to her and said it wasn't going to last forever and would go away but may take awhile. She was getting down not being able to do anything so some phone calls once in awhile from everybody will cheer her up. The doctor gave her Prednizone (a steroid) and some more Percoset and another anti inflammatory pill to see if we can get her feeling a little better. After the doctors we drove home and dropped her scripts off. It was Ed and Gina's birthday so we went to Carrabba's for dinner and had a great dinner and a nice time with Ed, Mary Lee, Charlie, Bobby (Ed's Mom, Dad & Aunt) Gina, and Steve. We did leave a little early as Mom was having a tough time sitting so she took her pills and started getting fuzzy.
Saturday we got up and Mom did get a good nights sleep, the first in 2 days, as she took 2 Percoset about 11:00 and they knocked her out without much pain during the night. We decorated the house with Christmas things we had brought from Tim's and I put up some outside lights. Ed came over in the afternoon and we went over the games for our Christmas geocaching meeting on Tuesday night and we had lunch together. He left and Mom took a nap and I watched some football. We had leftovers from Thursday for dinner and I went to bed early as I was Pooped. Well that's about it we hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and we miss you all. Love Mom & Dad

Lots Going On 11/21-27/2008

Sorry we are so late in our Thanksgiving greeting but there was lots going on especially with Mom and her back. We went caching on Tuesday and came home and she was doing our logs and all of a sudden she said it felt like someone had stabbed her in the back with a knife and she has been in severe pain ever since. We called the doctor on Tuesday afternoon and he prescribed some medication but it didn't even touch the pain. She took some over the counter medication on Wednesday and it helped a little but later in the day she really started hurting again. I asked her if she wanted to go to the emergency room but she said no. She ended up waking me at about 4:30 and we were off to the emergency room. They didn't do an awful lot except prescribe Percoset for the pain. We drove home and she took a pill and went back to bed and slept for about 4 hours the first real sleep she has had in 2 days. The medication did help with the pain but didn't take it away completely. We had Thanksgiving dinner with Steve and Gina and I did all the cooking as she relaxed. She took 2 Percoset last night and went to bed and did get a fairly good nights sleep.
As I said we did go caching on Tuesday and had a great time. We found several caches in the woods, one at Lowe's Grocery, one in the parking lot of the Crab House Restaurant, one outside Nibil's Restaurant, another overlooking the marsh in Garden City and a couple in Surfside Beach. Other than that we haven't been doing an awful lot. We hung around the house on Saturday and Sunday and I watched football. Mom did go to the store on Sunday. Other than that we haven't done much.
We had a great Thanksgving as our deep fried turkey came out great and we had stuffing, mashed potatoes, squash and waldorf salad. Gina brought pecan pie, shrimp, cheese and crackers, some GREAT brownies and some great sausage balls. She really was a lot of help with the dishes after we ate and we would like to thank her. Mom also had made a chocolate pie and a pumpkin pie that was delicious. Well time to go for now but don't forget we love you all and miss you guys. Love Mom & Dad

BRRRRRRRR, Caching, A Quiet Day, Caching 11/18-20/2008

Boy has it been cold here for the past few days and it is supposed to be that way for the next week or so. Now I know when I say cold it's not as cold as it is up in Camillus but it is really cold for here this time of year. The highs have been in the mid 40's to mid 50's and at night it has gotten down into the high 20's and that's cool here for this time of year.
Tuesday we decided to go caching again in the Conway and Loris area. Our first cache was near Loris at a tennis court, next was a cache in Loris at an abandoned parking lot, next was a cache located at a very lovely pond long Rt 701, then it was on into Conway for our first cache there along a nature trail in the woods, where by the way I found a tick on my leg even in the cold weather they are still around. Then it was on to a park and a cache on the playground on the climbing set, then it was 2 caches one located at a dentist office and one at a doctor's office. Next cache was behind a CVS drug store, next was one one located in the woods at a local park and the last cache of the day was along a deserted road in the woods. Then it was on back to the house and lunch, dinner and watching TV till it was time for bed.
Wednesday we stayed around the house and Mom went and did wash at Ed's house and got her haircut and I got our caches ready for Thursday. We watched some TV had lunch and dinner and as we said it was kind of a do nothing day.
Thursday we drove up to the Oak Island area and did some caching there and in Boiling Spring Lakes and Southport. Our first 2 caches were in a small park outside Southport and then we drove into Boiling Spring Lakes for 4 caches all located at different small parks which were all located on small lakes around the town. Then we drove into Southport and a cache in Franklin Square Park under the boardwalk. This park is adjacent to an art museum which was decorated for the holidays and has many huge oak trees that are hundreds of years old and also an old hand pump which draws water from a deep well under the park. Then it was a puzzle cache at the Southport Visitors Center where we had to go into the center to find answers to some questions pertaining to pictures on the walls of old time Southport and those answers would give you the final coords for the cache. The cache was actually located in Keziah Memorial Park next to the visitors center. The park was dedicated to a "Rovin Reported William Barnum Keziah and contains a 800 year old "Indian Trail Tree". According to legend the Indians tied the tree to the ground when it was a sapling to create a trail marker. The legend behind the Indian trail trees is that long before the white man came to this area in the late 1700's, the Indians marked their trails by bending saplings and securing them with vines and sinew. Today, these huge trees stand as sentinels in various places – our oldest living historical landmarks. These trail trees can be found in many placesall over the eastern U. S. Our next cache was at a Wally World in a light post, next was 2 caches at a small park on Oak Island and our final and our 2000th cache find was on our way back to Cherry Grove at a dead end road and was a puzzle cache dedicated to Conway Twitty by a friend of ours. Then it was back to the house and Mom did our logs and we went out to eat with friends to Sticky Fingers as they had sent Mom a coupon for a free 1/2 rack of ribs for her birthday. After we got back we watched TV for awhile and went to bed.
Well everybody we will say adieu until next time same time same place and we love and miss you all.

Birthday, Shopping, Football, Caching 11/13-17/2008

On Thursday Mom and the Cashions went shopping again at Tanger Outlets and of course I stayed home. It was Mom's birthday of course and we had a caching meeting at, of all places Friendly's Rest. We attended the meeting and then after we came back to the house for Mom's surprise party. Ed, Gina and Steve joined the rest of us as we had a birthday torte for Mom. She enjoyed it and said afterwards that she was kind of disappointed that we hadn't had anything at the meeting but the meeting really was lousy. We were stuck in a back room and they didn't have the soup that Mom wanted. We can't figure out why they have these meetings at places like this but we figure it is the person that arranges them as he is a Baptist preacher and is adamantly against drinking so he finds places that don't serve liquor. Everyone left around 10:00 and we watched TV for ahile till bed time.
Friday was Mom's day at the nursery so she left about 8:30 and the Cashions were also leaving this morning so I saw them off about 10:00. John wanted to get home by Saturday so he could go to the SU-UConn football game at the dome, and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why as they lost 39-14. I spent the day cleaning and doing my cross stitch. Mom got home about 2:30 and told me it was kind of a sad day in the nursery as they had a baby that had died they think a day or so before it was born so everybody was kind of down because of that. We had dinner and watched TV till bed time.
Saturday and Sunday were spent watching NCAA football and NFL football. Mom ran a few errands on Saturday and went to the grocery store on Sunday. She has been trying to walk as much as she can in hopes her leg and foot might get better before she has to start therapy in December. We really aren't sure what our plans are going to be for Christnas as yet as it depends on everybodies schedule and how her leg and foot respond to the therapy. We had a roasted chicken on Sunday for dinner and it really tasted good as it has turned very cold down here and will be for at least the next week or so.
Monday we got back on the caching trail and went out 501 and found a bunch of caches. Our first cache was outside the Myrtle Beach Speedway, next was a book cache where you can exchange books in the cache, third cache was along a back road in the woods, fourth was another cache off a dirt road, fifth was a cache in the woods at the end of a road in a new housing development, sixth was a cache in the bamboo near the Socastee swing bridge, next was a cache located at the end of a road in a proposed housing tract, eighth was a cache near the entrance to a housing development, ninth was a cache inside the Socastee Library and the last cache was another located at the entrance to another housing tract. All in all iut was a good day caching as the weather was great, although cool. We did see a bad house fire as we were going from cache to cache and the house was completely destroyed in the fire and was raging as we drove to where we could see it as you can see by the pictures. We stopped at Sam's and got our turkey and some more oil for Thanksgiving and the drove back to the house. We had lunch and Mom did our logs and I worked on our caches for Tuesday. Well time to say adios until next time and we love and miss you all. Mom & Dad

John & Chris Arrive , Some Shopping & A Vet Visit 11/11-12/2008

Monday Mom went and did some laundry at Ed's house as he graciously told Mom she could do her wash at his house rather than use the laundromat. She stopped at the store on her way back and picked up a few things we needed and when she got back we had lunch. John & Chris Cashion got here about 3:30 so we unloaded there car and sat and talked till it was time for dinner. We took them to Hamburger Heaven around the corner from the house and we all enjoyed the food.
Tuesday Mom and I had to take Muffy and Raggs to the vets for their annual checkup and shots. Everything was fine as far as their health and Muffy was a little overweight (a pound and a half). We went back to the house and Mom, John and Chris went shopping at the new complex on the old MB air base called Market Commons, a very high end shopping and living complex. They also stopped at Wal Mart and Pottery Barn and got back to the house about 3:30. We had dinner in tonight and watched TV till it was time for bed. Well that's about all for now so until next time we love and miss all you guys. Mom & Dad

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CODY.........FROM GRANDMA & GRANDPA

Caching, Nursery, Football & That's About All 11/6-9/2008

Thursday we went and did a few caches around the Cherry Grove area seeing as we hadn't been out in awhile. The first one we did was right down the road from us at a boat launch and fishing area. When we got there it was packed and it was good the cache was back in the marsh along a trail or we wouldn't have been able to do it because there were so many fisherman there. The next cache was at Vereen Memorial Park and was a puzzle cache put out by a friend of ours for a Canadian couple. I had figured the final coords before hand so we walked back along the trails and found the cache fairly quickly. Next were cache was located at a boat launch which was a quick find and the last cache was at a scenic spot along the road overlooking the marsh which was also a quick one. That was it for the day and we drove back to the house and had lunch and spent the rest of the day doing crafts and watching TV.
Friday was Mom's day at the nursery so she went in about 8:30 and got home about 2:00 and wasn't really swamped with new babies but did get to bathe and feed a couple of new little tykes so she was happy. Friday night we had Gina, Steve, Myra, Mark, Jesse, Kyle and Ed over for our first wing party since we have been back. We cooked 150 hot, parmesan cheese and butter and garlic wings and they all got eaten along with a potato salad Mom had made. Everyone brought drinks and some dessert so we had a nice time sitting around after dinner chatting.
Saturday Mom and I took a drive down to Chapin Park in MB to the Art in the Park craft show and wandered around there for awhile looking at all the lovely expensive things for sale there. They did have some exceptional art and some very unusual new crafters we had never seen before. After that we drove back to the house, had lunch and Mom went and did a few errands and I watch NCAA football.
Sunday, of course was NFL day and I watched the Bills-Patriots, Steelers-Colts and of course, the Giants-Eagles games. The latter game was a NBC Sunday Night Football game so it didn't get over until about 11:45 so it was a late night for me. Mom went to bed at halftime so she got a little more sleep than I did. John and Chris Cashion are visitng and will be arriving about noon or so tomorrow and it will be nice to see them. Mom went out and did some Christmas shopping for Tim and his family and went to the grocery store. Well that's about all the news that's fit to print so we will see you all next time same place and we love and miss you all. Mom & Dad
